Why is Hawaii time so different?
Hawaii. Hawaii abandoned the Uniform Time Act a year before Arizona, in 1967, simply because of its relative proximity to the equator, which makes Daylight Saving Time unnecessary.
Before Daylight saving time takes place in the fall, Hawaii is always three hours behind California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada. From a Hawaiian's point of view, before the time change on Nov. 7, if it's 6 p.m. ET in Florida, it's noon in Hawaii.

For example, most of Alaska uses Alaska Time, which spans three standard time zones. The state used two time zones until 1983, when it placed the capital, Juneau, in the same time zone as the more populous Anchorage and Fairbanks. China spans four time zones but uses only one.
Hawaii Weather in December
A typical December day in Hawaii sees temperatures sitting in the low 80s. December is one of the best times to see poinsettias in their natural habitat. The evenings can get a little chilly, and it is not uncommon to see the temperatures dip into the upper 60s.
HST, or harmonized sales tax, is a sales tax applied in certain provinces. It's a combination, or “harmonization,” of the GST and the province's provincial sales tax (PST). The HST application occurs in provinces that opted to combine their PST with the federal GST when it went into effect.
Let's face it – The United States does not have a value-added tax and does not have a federal sales tax. The Canadian goods and services tax (“GST”) and harmonized sales tax (“HST”) are foreign in more ways than one.
The best way to find your HST number is to look at your relevant tax forms. It will be noted on previous years' HST returns. If you cannot find paperwork, you can contact the CRA at 1-800-959-5525 to get your number or create a new one.
The HST is in effect in Ontario and Atlantic Canada (New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island). GST/HST registrants who make taxable supplies (other than zero-rated supplies) in the participating provinces collect tax at the applicable HST rate.
The harmonized sales tax (HST) replaces the provincial sales tax (PST) and the goods and services tax (GST) in the participating provinces.

The Canada Revenue Agency administers the rebate on behalf of the Government of Ontario.

Additionally, Hawaii Standard Time runs two to three hours behind Pacific Time, depending on the time of the year. (Hawaii doesn't observe Daylight Savings.)
Why did Hawaii and Arizona opt out of daylight saving time? Hawaii abandoned the law in 1967 because, well, it just didn't make sense. One of the benefits of daylight saving time is that there's more daylight in the evening. But in Hawaii, the sun rises and sets at about the same time every day, TIME reports.
The only parts of the US that do not have Daylight Saving Time are Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa. Arizona experimented with the change beginning in 1918, but decided to permanently opt out of the Daylight Saving Time in 1968.
Flights to Hawaii are about 5-6 hours from the west coast, 8-9 hours from the middle of the country, and 11-12 hours from the east coast so that's a long time to be miserable in a bad seat or on a less than stellar aircraft. Also, not all flight itineraries to Hawaii are created equal.
It is not possible to drive to Hawaii from mainland United States. You can ship your car over to Hawaii using a freight service or you can fly and pick up a rental car instead. Once you get to Hawaii, there are no car ferries between the different islands.
